The Politics of Dancing with a whimper.

Yes, some insights I hear you call. Tell us, tell us, your wispish election guesswork.

Well, my advice is, some seats will be won, some lost and some replaced after beinng left outside for too long in the rain but on the night look out for entertaining results around these seats with close Bright family connections.

1 - If the member for Higgins (Lib 8.8%), in Melbourne, the honourable treasurer, is ousted, and, hey, my brother lives in Higgins and he is capable of anything, then I will I never comment on the number of agapanthus' that line the streets of Camberwell again. I will also never wander unannounced into Mrs Costello's bedroom accidentally ...

2 - If the member for Sturt (Lib 6.8%), Chris Pyne is ousted, I will remember the time I did not vote for him as President of the Uni of Adelaide Student's Association in the late 80's. I have close family friends who live in Sturt. It is also adjacent to the seat of Adelaide ( Labor 1.3% ) where my mother resides and where I know a number of hired goons.

3 - Look out for Nick Xenophon in the Senate in SA. Xenophon is a peculiar Adelaide phenomenon. He has been in the Upper House there for a number of years mainly on the back of wearing billboards in Rundle Mall and his sincere belief that pokies suck. Which they do, but only a South Australian would vote for you cos of it ... He originally ran under the banner of NO POKIES in SA and won. and then won again. and again. It is not inconceivable he may hold the balance of power in the Senate. They love him like a Pie Floater over there. He'll get a seat or I'll shave something. I hope he didnt go to the right schools.

4 - The Seat of Sydney, Labor's safest ( 17.3%), held by Tanya Plibersek. I know Plibersek has been sending around a lot of paperwork. And she made an appearance at the Glebe Markets a few weeks back and also at the townhall. Buthey, she aint knocked on our door. Hang on, that might be her now ... no, it was some old guy in a Hawaian shirt knocking next door. No, I like her. Her hair is definitely the best of all the candidates.

5 - Other seats with Bright influences include Kingsford-Smith held by "US Forces get the nod." Should be no worries. My Aunty Nita voted for Gough. Her vote is locked in.

6 - The seat of Dobell ( Lib 4.8 % )on the Central Coast. My cousin, Kay, who is an artist lives in Killarney Vale which is in Dobell. It includes The Entrance and The Entrance is a pleasant seaside resort. If you have children, it would be a nice place to send them to board. Ken Ticehurst holds this seat. I dunno, it could be me but whenever I hear hisname i think of "head lice."

7 - Wentworth (Lib 2.6%). One of my great Adelaide friends, Harry, lives in Woollahra in the nether regions between Gay Wentworth and Jewish Wentworth ..... i'm leaving the jokes alone. have a soft spot for Turnbull as he is a Republican and i fought and died in the war for this country. But Newhouse I also have a lot of time for. The fact he may have been too late in tendering his resignation to the NSW Government, that sort of ramshackleness, disorganisation, failure to prioritise, that really endears me to him.

I may not Blog again until the night before when I will endorse my preferred TCBH candidate, refuse to tell you who it is and wait, wait, wait ...
