When Mere Outrage is not Enough

So, by now readers, you will have heard about the Nokia 6288. Yep, what a bummer.

Is it just me - i suspect it's just me - but it feels like i barely had time to drink my coffee and then my whizz-bang Nokia 6280 was yesterday's technology.

Over it but just wanted to share.

By now, you all will also have drawn your first impressions of the year, 2007. Apart from there being even more short shorts in 2007, i've not picked up on many differences so far. I would of course welcome your comments on this matter, Are the skirts shorter, is the grass greener, does the doof doofier ?

Our New Years Eve featured the New Years Eve Doof experience transplanted to a venue in Bondi Junction - nobody camped out. I polled a number of randoms on the night and overwhelmingly they agreed that the replacement venue was too hot and lacked "somethin' y'know." A small number also asked for my phone number and made enquiries of a personal nature.

A lot of you have asked what is planned for the Blog this year. More content, Guest columns from JT, downloadable ring tones and streaming booty trance videos - these are all on the table.

Often when talking about the future, i recall a moment from my childhood. I was in the back of the car, which i think was the green cortina station wagon, stopped at the set of traffic lights, and mum was driving. In the window of a shop we'd pulled up next to was a sign that read - WATCH THIS SPACE. I sat in the back of the car and watched. And nothing happened. I kept watching. After maybe a m inute, the lights changed and the traffic started to move. I kept watching as we drove off.

I just didn't understand why someone would put that sign in the window when there was clearly nothing to see in that space. And no indication of when there might ever be anything to see. What a dud !

I raised this with mum and remember clearly thinking "the only way i'm going to find out what is going on here is to talk to the person who owns the shop." And then i moved on to the next agenda item for that childhood day.

I ask that you all take a moment to reflect on what this story might have to say to young people today. And then could you go and buy me an ice cream - maybe a chocolate Paddle Pop. Thanks.
