The Bus Stop
You know...when you have those moments when all of a sudden the universe seems to be a benevolent being. Or, on a more personal level, from someone from a science background who has been taught to tear apart and dismiss any fragile theories and expose them for the worthless bits of heresay and nonsense that they are...this moment made me believe that there is The Universe. We were quite drunk. There were theatresports shenanigans led by our lovely New Zealander host (I had to think about whether to use capital letters for that one), who led us on a merry dance of games throughout the evening. Anyway, we left eventually and we were definitely drunk. Or at least Petey was. I was fine. We tried to hail a taxi (trying to remember whether "light on" means vacant or busy). The main problem was, which I must confess at this stage, is that i was in charge of finances for the night 'cause Petey had put his wallet through the washing machine.
Those of you who know me, know that is a disaster. Anyway, so we were trying to get home. This was when we determined (once i had found the wallet/purse at the bottom of the handbag), that we had only $5. That, is most definitely not enough for a taxi. So get ready for it...this is the moment...I looked down the road and saw a bus...it was going in the right direction, and there was possibly enough time to run for it and possibly to make it stop. I looked up...I saw, yes, thats right, we were at a bus stop. I casually waved my hand at the bus. It stopped. We got on. We got home, for a princely sum of $2.50. How much does Sydney public transport rock!
