2 ManyDJ's
2 ManyDJ's ! Only a handful of times have i listened to music and felt that edifying-"feel a better person for listening to it"-music as art sort of thing. Y'know.
All the other times its just a cool tune.
Anyhow, those times, cos i remember them mostly and there's not many of them .. were -
in what i think is chronological order-
When i first heard a Pavement song - i mustv become an indy rock wanker on the spot ..
When i really, really used to love The Mark of Cain, they were hard and illuminated a part of people that usually stay hid. But am now so over the noise.
Aside - "I remember an announcer on radio saying, "That was Pearljam - they say they might be the next NIRVANA ... " and me thinking, "comparisons."
Around this time, I was student teaching at Prince Alfred College (PAC), one of the schools in Adelaide. Rich, little spoilt hairless dickheads, really. Anyhow, i was teaching year 12's and one day accidentally slammed the door really, really loudly. So embarrassing.
One night while I was doing the pract teaching, i went to the best show of my life on a Wednesday, or some weeknight, with PAVEMENT, THE MARK OF CAIN, SCREAMFEEDER - i got a little bent, had a few beers, my brother drove and I lapped it up.
And another time, when i first heard the White Stripes, FELL IN LOVE WITH A GIRL. Round that time the internet took off. And it became the NEW VHS. Like VHS beat off BETA,when we all knew BETA was better quality, the internet beat off engagement with the real world or guitars.
And the most recent time, to get that feeling again, was hearing 2ManyDJ's ..
Fucking grand.
We're about to go of on leave - 3 weeks off for us. No study, no work - thats a special .. Posts should be practically daily.
