My invitation from the Consul General of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam
All off the record. I'm think i'm being watched.
Today, during the course of serving the public, i received an invitation from the Consul General of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam requesting " the pleasure of the company of Mr Peter Bright and Guest " at the "Vietnam Tourism Roadshow." Indeed, a more thinly veiled invitation to join the revolution i have never seen. I turned the envelope inside out looking for my complimentary VC outfit and plastic Ho Chi Minh beard but nuthin .. Still, the intention was clear. I'd encourage you all to get up here as soon as possible before i go all cadre and am posted as Vietnamese Cultural Attache to Cuba. Sweet, my own 1950's Caddy with Fins ..
Have had some dealings with the diplomatic representative of the SR Vietnam recently. I suppose we've all had our dealings with the occasional remnant pinko bureaucrat at some stage but one never tires of it. The simple act of receiving a piece of paper becomes a 10 minute exercise in "honourable, sir-ring" and dealing politely with requests " to do me a great favour Mr Peter Bright .." I like it .. having also been to the People's Democratic Republic of Lao i must admit having a soft spot for the gentle coercive but essentially shambolic brand of Pinko that these SE Asians have adopted. Of course, it explains why they are still a few grains short of a paddy in all sorts of terms.
Still, i shouldn't be here hammering my soon to be Viet bro's. Their invitation received today and postmarked yesterday for a show on Monday night was greatly appreciated. Viva le revolutione
